They Quietly Become Expendable

Considering how much I had to be out and about today with various duties, I was ever-glad to find our temps hovering around 53 degrees in our city for most of the afternoon, but once the sun started falling in the horizon, they began to drop quickly. Comparing years gone by, it felt more like a sunny day on the seventh of November instead of December. I'm now wondering if we're going to have a deep frost this winter.

I was a tiny bit annoyed while at office this morning when receiving a text message from another agent stating a house was sold, which I figured must've been an exceptionally belated response to a text message I send several days ago, asking if it would be possible for me to show it that day. You can bet I didn't even bother responding to it. Yes, I believe we're long-overdue for a required real estate course titled, 'Cell Phone Etiquette for Realtors.', and a follow-up with one titled, 'The Do's and Don't's of Imogee Usage', which is also getting out of hand. As the old saying goes, 'When in business, we must be business-like.'

While on the phone with a dear client of mine, I discovered she lived in several suburbs of San Diego, likely around the time I lived there, which opened up a long-ago closed door of memories. We talked about the beautiful weather, the traffic, the prices of homes and about everything in between. I even talked about a brass key fob which I was given as a going-away gift which I continually used until I happened to drop it last year, and when I went back to pick it up, one of our downtown creepy-crawlers must've found it and walked off. There've been several occasions when I've gone online and looked for one just like it, but no luck thus far. I did find one which must've been made by the same manufacturer, but it had other writing stamped in the brass. If only the company's name was stamped somewhere. Not to worry, I'll continue my search until I find one. Yes, I'm glad we had a good chat today about the 'old San Diego' area.

Part of my afternoon was consumed with rounding up some painting materials and a can of paint for a young man who agreed to do some work in a bathroom of a property one of my long-time investors own, and since I've used him in the past, I'm confident he'll do a satisfactory job. Unfortunately, there are very few contractors I hold in high esteem, and mostly because they do shoddy work and end up billing outrageous amounts. Like I've said before, we definitely need more competition within out various trades, and then perhaps they'll clean up their acts.

Having spoke about ordering calendars yesterday, I did decide to go ahead a purchase them, but when I placed a call to the company, the phone rang far too many times, until a pre-recorded message was given saying they were experiencing high work volumes, and to call back at another time. Well, I didn't call them back, but instead went on a search for another calendar provider, and after making several calls, I may possibly have a line on what I need. Hopefully I'll be getting a call-back tomorrow with good news.

Oh my goodness! I couldn't believe it when seeing in two separate posts today where Ron DeSantis was sticking his tongue out in such a creepy way during the debate last night, and wouldn't you know, he did it while being interviewed with our Governor back in November, and if you don't believe me, I've added the following link so you can see for yourselves. You've got to read the comments people made about it. Oh, and be sure to look for the one from last night. Wicked me would always refer to such people as 'Lizard Lips'. Too funny! Here you are: Ron DeSantis Ridiculed Over 'His Snake Tongue'

I couldn't help mentioning to someone I've known for a very many years, how disgusting it would be whenever seeing a non-blood relative of mine who was definitely old enough to know better, sticking his tongue out like that and licking something off its rim, which others would use, like a bottle of catsup. The few times I'd see him do that, I so much wanted to ask him which barn he was raised in. Terribly disgusting.

We're still getting showings on my active listings, so perhaps Santa will be good to me by giving me a gift of having them sold before Christmas arrives. Yes, the market is still active, but not as much as we've seen before our annual 'quiet' period arrived.

Have you ever stepped back far enough and looked at various relationships, be they family, friends or business colleagues, and found where one or another in the group was being used for the sole purpose of personal gain? When I use the word 'gain', I don't mean just monetary gain, but rather other gains like mentors, advisers, information seekers, trust seekers, and time users.

Just today I began thinking about how some have considered themselves indispensable due to the knowledge they share, and the inside-tracks they've been providing to those who've come to them for assistance, and in the end, most of those who've believed they'll always be part of those winning 'teams', quietly become expendable after others have milked them dry, and moved on to more fertile resources. After some deep thinking about a handful in our community, they actually haven't come to realize their days of being valued parts of various 'teams' are coming to and end. Truth be told, I don't feel a bit sorry for them because they've brushed aside the concept of 'good for all' and allowed themselves to fall in with those who were using them for their own personal gains. Do you think they'll come to their senses before it's too late? I personally have my doubts.

Tonight's One-liner is: All tyranny needs to gain a foothold, is for people of good conscience to remain silent.
