A QuickChek on Customer Service

Kudos to the young fuel attendant at the QuickChek Corporation service center in Mahwah Route 17 South location in New Jersey. On July 20, my wife and I stopped to refuel at the $3.99 a gallon station around 8 pm because it was the cheapest gas on the highway. What we discovered was a young man going above and beyond for the customers.

The station - similar to the one pictured here - had 12 operational pumps and he was the only one working in 90+ degree heat. Cars were arriving like kids at Christmas coming to open their long awaited gifts. Armed with only a Gatorade which he could barely drink, he was literally doing wind-sprints to service every customer to make sure they could refuel and get back on their journey (remember in NJ you cannot pump your own gas). He did it with a smile and apologies the whole time.

In addition, this QuickChek Corporation location ran out of regular gas, so the station also made the decision to honor the 3.99 price and give everyone SUPER instead. That's customer service in action. As someone who helps companies with their corporate communications for a living, I wanted to commend Blake Segal , his company and, most importantly, and his attendant at QuickChek for making sure the customer comes first. I was so inspired that instead of cursing out the continued high fuel prices, we gave that young man a tip as we were leaving the station.
