1. There are different Yogas we can explore practising. However, each kind of Yoga needs us to make dedicated time in our lives. The easiest therefore that needs no separate time is Karma Yoga (Yoga in action). You can practice it while brushing your teeth, eating, walking, in meetings, doing your planning etc.
2. Each of us perform actions in our own way. How we perform our actions is dictated by the Guna or state or quality of performance we possess (that is determined by birth, upbringing, food, current work/home environment and other factors). We could be in Tamas (inertia of rest) where we need constant push, motivation and supervision. Or Rajas (inertia of action) where we are fully in action, exuding vitality and driven by self-ambition, goals and results. But here we are always swayed by excitement of success or depression of failures. Or by Sattva where we have the same action-orientation and exuding vitality but not driven by ambition and goals, rather by selflessness.
3. When Sattva increases in your home, community, society and nation, peace and harmony show up. However, even the selfless state of Sattva is not the ultimate, because people may have attachment even in Sattva.
4. The pinnacle is when you fully give up attachment to everything including your work, its results, your relationships and material possessions, you transcend even the Gunas. That's when you fully become a Karma Yogi.
Going on this journey entails mindful awareness every moment, mindful eating and contemplation on our emotions and needs in the moment. I will try and share my thoughts around this. If this topic interests you, would love to hear your experiences and thoughts on this too.
