Quick Wrap-up before Saying So Long to 2020

It wasn’t exactly the year we all were hoping for, and I don’t think many of us will miss it. Nevertheless, looking back at 2020, I’d rather focus on the goals we reached than on the unfortunate events this year was full of.
Together with challenges, the disruptions of 2020 have brought many opportunities, especially in our domain. We were given a chance to reevaluate the role of digital technology in such important fields as healthcare and education and do something to make these areas safer and more efficient.
I started this year with a trip to the UK. Traveling was still a thing back then. It was an enjoyable and productive journey and a great opportunity to network, meet our ongoing clients and do the groundwork for several projects with the new ones.
Among them is Mudita Sports, a UK company with a breakthrough idea to transform the passion of millions of people — football — into the motivation to learn a new language. We were trusted to bring this idea to life. We’ve built and rolled out two educational apps in April 2020, and they have been receiving great reviews ever since.
Another successful launch was Thinking of You mobile donation platform that helps people support dozens of charities across the UK and stay connected and check on each other. It was rolled out just when it was needed the most — in the middle of the first stay-at-home order in the UK.
We were especially proud to help our long-time client, How Do I?, release mobile video support applications, this time for people affected by dementia and their families.
These digital systems have helped ease the stress of the pandemic and lockdown for many people. Other systems will help prevent another healthcare crisis from happening again.
DXRX Diagnostic Network by Diaceutics is one of such systems. The platform was built to solve the issues in the diagnostic testing ecosystem, push forward the development of precision medicine and, eventually, improve the care experience and health outcomes on a global scale. Digiteum has joined several brilliant engineering teams working on the platform that went live in October 2020. We will continue contributing to this and many other important projects in 2021 and beyond.
Not only did we support the initiatives of our clients but also commenced an initiative of our own. As an independent company, we have launched a yearly IoT scholarship program to help young and talented people in tech finance their education in engineering and computer science.
It was a good year for new projects, new partnerships, and new geographies too. In 2020, we have worked with companies from the UK, Canada and the US and expanded our partnerships to Estonia, Spain, Cyprus and Ireland. Hopefully, wider horizons are lying ahead of us now that we have opened a development center in Gdansk, Poland.
I had a chance to announce this great news at GBS Talks 4.0 forum and share our successful experience in opening a branch in Tricity as well as thank all the professionals — consultants, lawyers, recruiters — who have made our journey smooth and enjoyable. Special thanks to the incredible team of Invest in Pomerania!
Despite everything, this year was a year of growth and development at Digiteum, and not just from the business standpoint. We have grown and matured as a team, welcomed many talented people on board, became one year older and wiser and celebrated an all-online 10th anniversary of Digiteum this summer.
I hope our clients, partners and dear friends have many, many goals they have achieved and are proud of this year, have good stories to tell and excitement to share. And I look forward to the opportunities and prospects 2021 will bring us. On this hopeful note, I wish you all peaceful and joyful holidays and a happy and healthy New Year!
