A quick way to get unstuck

Feeling stuck?
Me too!
It happens occasionally. I get really stuck. I feel like a can't move forward with anything. I start lots of things but none of them seem to take shape, I end up feeling like I'm going round in circles.
I've had to work hard in a few coaching sessions recently to keep coaching and not slip into pure empathy - because I'm definitely not alone. A lot of people are feeling it.
So how do you deal with it?
Well, these days I turn to my trusty toolbox of coaching questions for pretty much everything, and this situation is no different.
So when I'm feeling stuck, I ask myself this - 'What do you need to know?'
What do you need to know to move forward?
What do you need to know to make it worth doing the work, having the conversation, spending the time on this?
We all want pace, we all want a solution, we all want to skip to the good bit, but sometimes (actually, no, all the time) it's much better if we break things down.
So ask yourself, what do you need to know?
And then start to work out the answer.
In my case, I need to know that what I'm working on is going to work. And only in writing it down have I realised I can never know that. But what I do know is that it really won't work without me doing the work.
And all of a sudden there you have it - new found motivation!
