QUICK UPDATES - NO. 2
Welcome to another weekly update to bring you up to speed with recent activities at the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), as we rev up our plans and initiatives to boost the non-oil export sector as a key source of foreign exchange revenue and GDP growth for the country.
This week, I was part of the Nigerian delegation that attended the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum 2024 in Washington DC.?AGOA refers to legislation approved by the U.S. Congress in May 2000.
The aim is to assist the economies of sub-Saharan Africa while improving economic relations between the United States and the region. There are currently 38 countries with AGOA beneficiary status. The number varies from time to time.
This year’s AGOA Forum brought together senior government officials from the United States and the 38 Sub-Saharan African AGOA-eligible countries to discuss ways to continue to boost economic cooperation and trade between the United States and Africa.
I joined Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, the Honourable Minister FEDERAL MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY TRADE & INVESTMENT in signing a ground-breaking Memorandum of Understanding on Commercial and Investment Partnership with U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo.
This agreement, the result of months of dedicated work on both sides, marks a significant step forward in deepening bilateral commercial and investment ties between Nigeria and the United States.
This step is in alignment with the Industrial Revitalization Plan of HM Dr Doris Anite and the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).
