A Quick Story About Integrity

A Quick Story About Integrity

As many people may know SomethingNew was created in response to over a decade of less than stellar experiences that I encountered building a national sales force, marketing department and customer service organization.  I'm using a pretty big brush to paint an industry with but I do think there are a select few who "get it" and do things the right way and they deserve props even if we are technically competitors.

As our clients know we tell it like it is and make them aware of issues that they would likely never know of with potential candidates even if it means losing a placement.  Integrity and trust is everything in life and in business.

"It takes a lifetime to build a good reputation, but you can lose it in a minute" -Will Rogers

Over a decade ago an example of integrity was so powerful that I've told this story often.

I was working with a recruiter named Sandra DiFiglia and she was meeting a candidate for an interview that on paper checked all the boxes and looked like a sure thing as a National Account Manager hire.  After her interview Sandra and I were debriefing and I asked her if he was all that we thought he was.  She answered that he was but that she wanted me to know that during their interview he was very rude to a young child who was doing what young children do which is to make noise and cause a bit of commotion.  She had about 12,000 reasons to skip telling me that but she did because she valued integrity over making a buck.  I'll never forget that and I always think about it when I deliver similar information to our clients that I think is critical to their evaluation process.

For those of you wondering, the answer is I passed on meeting/hiring the candidate but am forever thankful to Sandra for being an example of someone who put integrity first.

If you value integrity in your business relationships I would encourage you to look Sandra up or contact us at SomethingNew, www.TrySomethingNewNow.com or [email protected], 888-223-9420

Thank you for sharing this. Integrity counts. It is one of the many reasons I love where I work. I know my boss is going to do the right thing and I don't have to worry.
