For the first Cute and Entertaining story; is one about a daring kitty! A Chicago Firefighter was able to take a video of this cat turned Spiderman. During the video this cat jumped from a burning 5-story building, and landed with a bit of a bounce, but after just walked off! “It went under my car and hid. Until she felt better after a couple of minutes, and came out, and tried to scale the wall to get back in,” said fire department spokesman Larry Langford. Happily that cat was confirmed not to be injured, however it means one of its nine lives has definitely been carried out!!

This next story is also about animals and fire, but this time the RCMP helped these goats out! The wildfire, sparked on Thursday July 19 in Wycliffe, B.C., forced the evacuation of five homes. One home and several outbuildings were destroyed as a result of the blaze, however luckily there where no injuries reported. During this wildfire RCMP found some goats on the side of the road, and of course they got the goats to safety. This story when I found it I thought was sweet, and wanted to share!

Straying off of Animals for a while lets talk about a cool development of using nature, to help make rubber more environmentally friendly! A major tire company in Germany has partnered with the University of Aachen to produce rubber tires... out of dandelions! There doing this to cut back on landfill waste, microplastic pollution, deforestation, and economic shortcomings related to rubber tree cultivation. You might think this is new, but it was actually developed by the Soviet Union in their quest for self-sufficiency. So this was a really interesting story, a bit of a history lesson, and shows how limitless nature is!! Now back to animal stories!!

This story on animals took me by surprise when I saw it, and I was intrigued that it was about bees!! There was recently a study by Dutch researchers, who have trained bees, to identify samples infected with COVID-19. Bees are able to do this because they have an unusually keen sense of smell, a finding they said could cut waiting times for test results to just seconds. "We collect normal honeybees from a beekeeper and we put the bees in harnesses," said professor of virology, Wim van der Poel, who took part in the project. Going onto say "Right after presenting a positive sample we also present them with sugar water." A project which I found really interesting because: #1 Never thought you could train a bee so well, and #2 I didn't think bees had that good of a nose!!

So that is the end of the Cute and Entertaining stories, and we are transitioning to the Serious and Think-About stories! That aren't bad scenarios but you should probably think about, and consider!!

The first one is about something happening in Alberta, and that is the Mayoral Interviews in Calgary, and Edmonton!! This is interesting and exciting for both places, and especially for Calgary who has had the same mayor for 12 years!! But it is truly important for both places, so there can be different views put on things, and fresh new ideas for the city!! Right now there are several Candidates for both cities, who are all curious, and have several different views, and ideas!! I am lucky enough to have been able to talk with several of these Candidates as of now, and interviewed them. If your curious about them you can check my social media posts, my Sophia Fairweather YouTube Channel, or you can learn about them from the Candidates various social medias!! I personally really enjoyed learning about these Mayoral Candidates, and the interviews have aloud me to have some insight, and a ton of experience!!

Staying in Canada lets discuss a resent sexual misconduct involving Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin, who used to be the COVID-19 Spokesperson for Canada. Sources told CTV News that military police received a formal complaint alleging a “historical sexual assault,” against Fortin, in March. The incident, sources say, goes back 32 years to early 1989, when Fortin was a student at the Royal Military College in Saint-Jean, Québec. The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) has referred the matter to Quebec’s prosecution service. Everything in this story is developing and will be for a while, so if your interested, keep an eye out!! Hopefully though, the investigations and everything will be concluded soon, so we can find out what happened!

Going down to the USA, there has been a new statement sent out by the CDC! A statement telling fully vaccinated Americans, that they are now able to participate in most indoor activities without wearing a mask. President Biden saying Several hours later in a outdoors press conference that “The CDC is saying, they have concluded, that fully vaccinated people are at a very, very low risk of getting Covid-19. Therefore, if you’ve been fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask,” cementing the statement by saying. “Let me repeat: if you are fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask.” This has caused a little bit of confusion and there has been hesitancy from some, Joseph Jennings, 82, saying “I just see masks as a precaution." Saying that he would “most likely” keep masking inside despite the guidance. However this rule seems to be catching on, and now places like Walmart have adopted the rule. This rule has many other pieces of information, to make sure we still stay safe, so here is a link to learn more below!!

Coming back to Canada, lets focus on another story that developed in Alberta! Thousands attended a rodeo outside of Bowden on May first and second, in defiance of the province's health regulations. This Rodeo was on the same day as it was announced there were 2,433 new cases of COVID-19, in Alberta. It was called the “No More Lockdown Rodeo Rally,” and it took place on a lot along Highway 2A. Both Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the RCMP warned organizers in the days leading up to the event that it wasn't permitted under current provincial rules. Alberta's leaders have limited outdoor gatherings to a maximum of 10 people. However, hundreds of cars filtered in and out of the property for most of the afternoon, and inside; crowded bleachers had on them tightly-packed fans. CTV News saying they saw one mask being worn at the event. Two RCMP officers did attend the rodeo around 2 pm because of the defiance of the provinces health regulations, but they left shortly after. So this definitely isn't one of Alberta's finest moments, and hopefully the government cracks down a little more in the future!!

Now lets end on a Fun story so we can go back into the world ready and positive! This time the story is about Adopting Gargoyles!! Yes I know it sounds bonkers, but I swear it is now possible to actually do!! Because back in 2019 there was a fire that destroyed a lot of art, famous statues, and destroyed parts of the Cathedral of Notre Dame. So while your adopting a new, cute, cuddly, creature [ the saints, and Joan of Arc could also use some help] your also donating to help restore the Cathedral of Notre Dame. If your curious about this and want to help, even if its small, the link to the website is below!!
