Now that the summer holidays are well and truly over, I thought I’d share some tips on how to stay motivated beyond the first few "back to school" weeks :)

If you’re like a lot of the population, you might find it easy to procrastinate, distract yourself or drag your feet instead of getting to the hard or important thing that you know will propel you forward.

If that's the case, there are some quick and easy tactics you can deploy that act as motivational boosters, helping reinvigorate you and move you along.

So if this sounds like it might be useful, take a look at the list below, pick the ones that resonate and try them out:

Motivational Boosters

1.? Move around – It sounds simple, but movement gets your endorphins flowing and boosts all important dopamine production. So if you’re feeling stuck, pick some movement that feels like fun and do it for a minimum of five minutes. I will admit to dancing around my kitchen whenever I need to break the stalemate! Whether you dance, stroll round the block, run, swim, bike ride or roller skate to a more motivated state, it will help pump you up to tackle the thing you’ve been avoiding.

2.? Choose a mantra – Pick a few statements that focus your mind and motivate you. It doesn’t matter whether they come from a motivational quotes Instagram page or they are just a few words that tell you what to do. My mantra last year was “Just Do It!”, which I repeated to myself every time I had to do something uncomfortable or hard to help me push through. This year I’ve pumped for “It’s either a daring adventure, or nothing at all!”

3.? Listen to music that moves you I’ve got clients who use the Les Misérables score, the Rocky theme tune, and the soundtrack from Top Gun to inspire them into action. Depending on what I’m trying to accomplish, I play Wicked’s Defying Gravity, a fist-pumping mix of 80s School Disco hits (I know, sorry!) or Einaudi’s Islands album, which might just be the most beautiful music on earth?:)

4.? Listen to a rousing talk The right motivational content at the right time can transform how you feel and propel you into action. Pop in your headphones, and do a Google search for “motivational speech.” There are thousands on YouTube. I’ve used content from a wide range of people, including Simon Sinek, Bo Eason, Brene Browne, Shawn Achor and even Ed Sheeran, with his ‘Being Weird is a Wonderful Thing’ speech.

5.? Give back to others Focusing on making a difference in the lives of others can deliver an immense sense of satisfaction, which in turn improves your motivation. I'm not just talking about huge things here. Small acts of thought and kindness towards others absolutely work and can leave you feeling empowered to overcome any challenges you face. It’s a wonderful win-win.?

6.? Call your most positive friend Whoever in your network inspires you, cheers you on and lifts you up, seek out and bask in their positive energy, letting it encourage and galvanise you into action. And if you don’t have anyone like this in your community, try joining a Facebook or LinkedIn Group of positive thinkers, or attending a meet up of like-minded people.

7.? If all else fails, watch Limitless with Chris Hemsworth if you’ve got Disney Plus and haven't seen it – It’s awe-inspiring, funny, thought provoking and I just loved it so have recently re-watched it!?

Whatever you want to achieve, try these feel-good techniques whenever you hit a block.

You might just motivate yourself down the road to success???

Absolutely loved this! My fire up song at the moment is Hamilton's My Shot and of course, keeping the crystals close!
