A 'Quick Listen'

Sometimes, we are asked to take a "quick listen" to someone's audio.
First of all, there is no such thing as a 'quick' listen. It's like asking for a quick service on your car or a quick chicken curry! It's not going to be great.
A quick listen takes up to one hour...if you want it done well.
As this was a bank holiday, we had some extra time so we DID take a quick listen to some audio.
Here's the feedback:
????
?Had a quick listen to your audio - thanks for sending that over to us.
You are obviously in control of your shift - it's tight and forward moving.
We would love to hear you relax more in yourself to hear more pace, tone and delivery (vocally)...making it more conversational to the listener.
As presenters, we are always told to keep it tight and bright - that's great up to a point...however, it's equally important to be versatile in your delivery....showing the listener the 'real' you.

Every shift, give me (the listener) something I didn't know about you before. It can be as simple as "I love blue socks" !! Something...anything...do that once a shift and you deepen the relationship. It's how human being connect.
Put pictures in my head...let me 'see' the link.
Technically you are 100% on point. You know the format inside out. For me, I would love to hear you take it further. You change when speaking to callers - your demeanour becomes less 'radio'...in a good way. Take a listen to how your voice changes from solo on-air links to caller links. It's calmer, warmer and more human. There's a vulnerability in there that we don't get (can't get) from constructed links. The voice betrays our real feelings...your listener has a finely tuned, highly trained receiver...it's called their ear! Nothing gets past that ear...you can't fool it. When you can woo the listener's ear with honesty and passion and enthusiasm, then you're onto something.
We can hear the extra potential in your delivery that is not being allowed out yet. It would be nice to release some of that.
As I said, that was from a 'quick listen' but it took us 45 minutes to give a reply of that length.
If you need someone to listen to your audio properly and send you a three page report on your aircheck...let us know. Then we can REALLY get stuck in.
There is a cost for this full service but it's not scary :)
Cheers and have a great week!
