Quick Lessons from Smokey and the Bandit

I was watching Smokey and the Bandit for possibly the hundredth time and thinking about one of my favorite scenes when I noticed some pretty insightful messages.

The scene I'm speaking of is where Cletus, "The Snowman" stops to get some go juice at an eat em up joint, and takes Fred his watch dog inside. While making a phone call a biker grabs his attention and says his dog bit him, and proceeds to threaten Fred.

The Snowman hangs up the phone and replies in a stern and serious demeanor, "Oh I don't think Fred bit you Mister; because Fred absolutely don't like grease!"

This starts the fight between The Snowman, and quite a few bikers. He gets tossed around and beat pretty good. After being forced to the ground outside he wipes up his blood, catches his breath and goes on his way.

But before leaving to get back to his run with The Bandit, he can't help but have a big grin almost from ear to ear. He then proceeds to drive his rig over the top of the bikers bikes destroying them beyond recognition.

And the lessons I found from this to point out:

Know when to show your loyalty.

The start of the scene I mentioned The Snowman sticks up with out hesitation for his dog, (his friend), Fred. Threaten his friend and you will feel his wrath! He knows he's outnumbered and will get beat, but it's worth it to get in a few licks and show the bikers he will not tolerate their threats.

You get knocked down, get back up.

I think I counted 4 bikers involved. They hit him in the gut, a couple of times in the face, knocked him into the bar, and knocked him into the door. After that I feel the only option he had was to pick himself up and move forward.

Stand up for yourself.

When moving forward he sees the opportunity. There it is. The opportunity to not get even, but the opportunity to stand firm against those bikers. I say not get even because I feel he came out on top in this scenario. He got em good!

This was just a fun reflection to point these out. Is there any other Smokey and The Bandit fans out there? Just curious, has anyone noted any other quick lessons?
