Quick Kata Workout - Focusing on Turns

Workout 5 - Focusing on Turns


Aerobic Workout

Do the following all for 10 seconds each x 2 Times


Jog on the Spot

Side-To-Side Movement

Jab Punch Left

Jab Punch Right

Star Jump

Heel Touches

Knees Up


Turns (if you don’t perform these Kata, choose 5 turns from Kata you practice)

  1. As in Kihon Kata, from Right Lunge Punch, turn Downward Block into Front Stance x 10
  2. As in Heian Nidan Kata, from spear hand, turn Knife Hand Block into Back Stance x 10
  3. As in Kosokun Kata, in Right Cat Stance, Knife Hand Strike, turn into Left Cat Stance, Inside Block x 10
  4. As in Gojushiho Sho Kata, from Right Spear Hand, turn Left Ridge Hand Palm Up, Right Knife Hand Palm Up into Horseback Stance x 10
  5. In Right Front Stance, Reverse Punch, back leg across and turn 180 degrees, Downward Block, Reverse Punch x 10


Kata


Pick a Kata of your choice and practice it for 5-10 Minutes. Focus especially on parts of the Kata that need extra work such as turns, timing of Kata, a jump, etc.

Warm Down with a full stretch routine (see previous workouts)
