Last month I was writing about how thoughts were turning to business adapting to the “new normal” following the initial rush to shift to home working.
During the intervening weeks we’ve seen those thoughts turned in to action, as workers emerge from the confines of home to hybrid models, working from home, company offices and client locations as deemed most efficient; often on the basis of the combined judgement of the employer and the employee, and definitely supported by new Covid-19 safeguarding practices. Recent surveys have shown that in the region of 50% of “office workers” would now prefer to work from home some of the time, with employers recognising the potential efficiencies and acting accordingly.
At MPS, Clients now want a flexible, scalable, future-proofed unified communication and collaboration (UCC) platform capable of delivering full PBX and UCC functionality using hard-phones, softphones, PC, Mac, Android or IOS devices, where user experience is seamless across any device, from any client site and any other location with Internet connectivity. Often there are call centre, contact centre, call recording, PCI compliance and reporting requirements in the mix as well.
Traditional on-premises PBX and IT systems don’t deliver against these fundamentals and, consequently, we’re now seeing exponential growth in orders for Cloud solutions. The trend is orders for Cloud Voice (mainly our Horizon platform), Microsoft 365, advanced anti-virus products, unified threat management firewalls, monitoring, alerting and associated cybersecurity products and services. UCC is typically delivered using Horizon’s own “Collaborate” application or Microsoft Teams.
Never before have working practices changed so quickly, underpinned by the adoption of technology, and the MPS converged portfolio of ICT products, services and skills has never been more relevant.
