A QUICK GUIDE TO SELF SABOTAGE WITH THESE 3 SHORT STATEMENTS!

A QUICK GUIDE TO SELF SABOTAGE WITH THESE 3 SHORT STATEMENTS!

Human kind spent thousands of years developing languages, which would allow us communicate effectively and efficiently between each other. Currently, it is estimated, that there are nearly seven thousands spoken languages all around the globe.

We all use at least one of them every day. This translates to thousands of words, sentences and phrases, travelling from and towards us all day long. We experience these in a written, spoken and heard from. From conversations with friends, reading the newspaper in the morning, watching the news, thinking, all the way to our dreams we are surrounded by them.

Taking all of the above into account, it is apparent, that language and the way we use it plays a vital role in our day to day life. It has a massive impact on the way we feel, see the world and how we are seen by others. It contributes to our success, as much as, it might be the main reason why we fail.

There is a direct link between the language we use and who we are. Every word travels to our brain to be understood. This means that our conscious and subconscious minds are exposed to every (yes, EVERY) smallest word we read, hear, say or (only) think.

For those reasons, we should always be mindful of how we express ourselves.

There are many self-sabotaging sentences each of us uses on a daily basis. These can cause us to limit our potentials, bring us to failure and make us unhappy.

The most common examples include words we would never suspect of being damaging:

- I DON'T KNOW – often used even if we do know! Avoiding getting involved became an excuse, which creates a habit of not accessing our knowledge when needed, not seeking answers from within and not even trying to be helpful. It contributes to feeling un-educated, unable to reach success and having low confidence levels.

- I CAN'T DO THIS – if asked to jump off the building, this would be the correct answer. Unfortunately, we tend to use this excuse much often. If asked, would you say you use it daily? “I CANT” became an easy way “OUT” for us from many day-to-day activities. This way however, we limit ourselves from taking opportunities and reaching our goals. We justify lack of action and refuse to uncover the real reasons behind our procrastination. It causes us to have low self-esteem, be insecure and know next to nothing about ourselves.

- I JUST WANT – just became a condition for everything. We use it as a security measure... “just in case”. The problem is, that our subconscious brain is acknowledging how “just average” our life should be (according to ourselves) and leads us to be “just that”. Have you ever told yourself “I just want to lose 5 kilograms”? I wouldn’t be surprised if that is JUST what you been able to achieve.

Be mindful of the language you use on a daily basis. You can have fun with it and adjust it to your needs on the spot. I am not suggesting you to start obsessing about it. The point is to understand the impact and minimise the risks of self-sabotage.
