No Quick Fix - It's a Process

Good morning and happy Wednesday,?

I gave a talk last night at a downtown hospital with three other well meaning and dedicated professionals in the mental health space.

A psychiatrist presented before me and, after I spoke, I appreciated that he said aloud to the audience, ?“I’m getting my back up and feel myself tensing”.?

To be fair, I’m used to people having this reaction to material I present.?

I don’t talk about coping strategies.?

?I don’t talk about treating and managing our symptoms or harm reduction models.?

I don’t even use the word trauma anymore.?

Instead I talk about how we’re all?deeply disconnected from ourselves and each other -??what I believe is truly the root cause of all our mental health dysfunction.?

And I talk about utilizing?Neuroscience Modalities, Psychedelics and Grounded Spirituality?as a means to reconnect and align mind and body so that we can operate from our natural state which is health, wholeness and peace.?

I talk about this being a process and that no pill, workshop or come to Jesus moment is going to do it

And, last night, I said that I’m glad the medical community is trying, that harm reduction models are trying, that people keep showing up and are trying and that everyone is doing the best they can?

At the end of the talk the psychiatrist looked at me and said, “I?wish we all had personal therapy like you’re talking about but how do you scale it?”.?

My answer is that we begin by telling people the truth - ?that?each one of us is responsible for ourselves and repairing and healing our nervous systems.

Once we do this, we?stop?reacting and getting triggered by chaos?and instead we start?responding to life circumstances?with healthier, more self loving choices.?

That is how we heal, that is how we take care of ourselves and that is how we stop abusing each other.?
