Quick Excel Tip - How to use the NOW function

Let’s say you have a table of IT support tickets. Let’s also say that you want to calculate the age of each ticket.

You could use the now function to get this done:

Step 1: Assign a column (In the example below it is Column G – Ticket Age (Days Old)), and format the cells in the column as Number.

Step 2: Use the now() function in the calculation as per below:

Step 3: Copy cell G2 and paste across G3 to G11.

Step 5: All done :)
