A quick checklist for Interpersonal Communication

After talking with some recent connections about "Soft Skills", Emotional Intelligence, and Interpersonal Communication, it was suggested I post some tips that I have come across for others to reference. To preface, I'm not an expert in this, and this is pretty basic. It was just noted while talking with my network that my observations could be helpful towards others.

Be aware of your body language.

Be aware of your facial expressions.

When listening to someone, look them in the eye. Maybe even stop what you are doing.

Do not misdirect your negative feelings towards others.

Use a friendly tone of voice.

You must have a good attitude.

Follow up with questions promptly.

Treat everyone as your equal.

Praise when applicable for a good job.

Always ask versus demand.

Be compassionate.

Be fair and consistent.

Lets hear some more tips about this, I really would like to have some productive commentary.

Be yourself !! knowing who you are, where you are, why you are there and what you are there for. If we clear with all that in our mind and heart then nothing shall stop us from taking the right shot even in the dark. ??? Thanks for the tag Michael Hughes

I would add enthusiasm to your list as well! I think that most people just want to be seen or want their opinions and uniqueness validated. There's no way to set a more positive tone for that than by being enthusiastic, I believe! Thanks for sharing, Mike!
