Quick Checklist on Buying Auto Insurance by Morgan Murray
Collision- Do you want your car replaced or repaired? Thought so, take into account your risk factors. If you have a higher risk (Teen drivers) you may want to consider full coverage. If you purchase a vehicle with a loan you usually will be required to have full coverage until you own the vehicle.
Comprehensive- If your car is broken into and your brand new purse is stolen, you want this. This also helps if your car is damaged by certain perils. Perils can be a number of things, for example a tree falls on your brand new Mercedes . View your policy to see exactly what you are currently covered for.
Bodily injury- Incredible important, DO NOT get the minimum requirements your State requires. If you are at fault you are already having a bad day. You will want to feel confident that you can pay for any damages to others.
Property damage- You got into an accident and now you have to pay for the other persons property. Simple, get enough insurance to replace a new car. This is typically required anyways.
Uninsured-motorist- Unfortunately, this is a problem across the United States. Buy the same amount you would for your own coverage. The less strict the penalties or requirements for uninsured driving, the more uninsured drivers exist in your neighborhood.
Personal-injury protection- Regardless if you caused the accident or not PIP will help with medical care & lost wages. Cross reference this policy with your other insurance as you may already be protected.
If its within your budget, you can add more optional coverage. Perhaps you want towing included. In the end you will be happy you have more than enough Auto insurance when you need it.
