JAW SETTING FIXTURE ACCURATELY LINES UP TOOLING OFFLINE
Be ready to drop your next set of jaws right into the cut-off die.
Your jaws and spacers get screwed together right on this precision fixture so you can visually check to make sure everything is aligned properly, and that both blades have the correct clearance.
Place the jaw Spacers into the key slots and then set the Jaws on the T-Keys. Align the screw holes and hand tighten everything together.
Snug the jaws down onto the fixture a little tighter and then finish tightening the cross screw(s) to sandwich the jaws around the spacer, which really holds everything together. Now you can inspect the set-up while your jaws are on the fixture.
Are all four jaws sitting perfectly flat on the fixture surfaces? If not, maybe the bottom of the jaws are not square with the cutting face/jaw spacer step. You will also see if the wide portion of the jaw spacer is sticking out from under the bottom of the jaw.
Once you have verified that all the tooling is in the correct position, you are ready to make your jaw change. Your operators won't have to fight the tight quarters in the die to check that everything lines up.
