QUICK CATCH-UP (Part the Second)
So here's what's been going on in other parts of my life!!! Early this year, we lost Steve's brother to cancer. This meant he'd lost both parents and his only sibling in the space of four months. Then, in March Steve & I were told by our landlord that he was going to sell the flat we'd taken as a "long term let" the previous March, because it was proving too expensive to maintain. He was very apologetic and gave us first refusal on another flat he had that would be available in May. We viewed it a couple of times and decided to take it; so began the task (yet again) of packing up to move. We actually moved in on 8th May and, considering we have only been here for six weeks or so, we are remarkably settled and sorted (that is largely down to Steve who is an Unpacker and Reorganiser Extraordinaire). By then, we had also heard that my brother is very ill in Denmark (where he has lived for thirty odd years) with an aggressive lung cancer. This necessitated myself, two sisters and brother-in-law flying over there a couple of weeks ago for a meeting with his consultant. It wasn't a holiday, but we stayed at a lovely AirBnB villa near to my brother's home and we were told that, although he will never be cured, his cancer has begun to shrink. As long as he does everything his medical team tell him, takes care of himself and takes his medication, his cancer is more likely to be managed successfully, so it did turn into a bit of a holiday after all!!! And guess what? I get my Senior Bus Pass within the next week or so and am planning to retire in October, so my writing will again take precedence! Good to finish on an optomistic note don't you think? Watch this space!
