Quick Admin Guide: Teams Rooms with speaker recognition and Copilot

Did you know that speaker recognition for all microphones for Teams Rooms on Windows is in Public Preview and coming to GA very soon?

You can get started today and prepare or get a sneak preview with your MTRs on Public Preview! MTR Version 5.0.111.0 or higher is required

How to get started?

There are three easy steps to enable this for your users and Teams Rooms

1.? Connect to Teams Powershell

connect-MicrosoftTeams

2.? Enable speaker recognition for the TeamsMeetingPolicy that is assigned to your Rooms e.g.:

Set-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy -Identity MTRRoomsUS -roomAttributeUserOverride Attribute -AllowTranscription $true

3.? Enable enrollment for the TeamsMeetingPolicy that is assigned to your users e.g.:

Set-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy -Identity USUsers -EnrollUserOverride Enabled
-AllowTranscription $true

Please replace “-Identity MTRRoomsUS and USUsers” with the correct policy names that you want to enable this feature for, alternatively you can use the Global policy.

Note: Even if you are currently still going thru the approval process to turn voice and face enrollment on, if you enable already the MTRs it will immediately improve the Recap and Copilot results and distinguish users from the room in Speaker 1 Speaker, 2 and so on.

Before and after:

In a hybrid meeting, without speaker recognition, the audio feed for people in the room would be attributed to the space (for example, Conf Room 1245), not the individuals speaking, making it difficult to query individuals’ contributions, summarize everyone’s perspectives, and tackle those to-do items.

With speaker?recognition,?Teams Rooms?can identify speakers during live transcription in shared meeting rooms, ensuring clear and precise voice capture for every participant. This allows you to effortlessly track who said what during the meeting through intelligent meeting recap and Copilot.
