Questions You NEED to Ask During an Interview and Why

Asking the right questions is a tried-and-tested method to stand out from the crowd. Not only does it indicate that you’ve done your research, but it also shows the employer that you’re truly interested in excelling in the role you’re applying for.??

??

However, there’s a difference between asking questions just for the sake of it and asking questions that truly help you learn more about the role and the company.??

??

In the end, it boils down to whether the questions you’re asking are the correct ones.??

The RIGHT Questions to Ask During an Interview?

The rule of thumb is to ask at least 3 questions; one about the direction of the company, one about the role itself, and one about the work culture. However, you can always add more questions?depending on how the conversation is going.??

??

That said, here are our 5 handpicked questions we recommend you?ask.??

“What are the current company goals and how does everyone work together to achieve them?”?

Asking this question gives the impression that you’re willing to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Not only do you pursue your personal interests, but you also want to be a part of the company’s collective goals.??

“What’s the biggest challenge someone in this role will face?”?

If you ask this question, the employer will know that you’re someone who plans ahead and takes on challenges. They will perceive you as someone who’s ready to understand the upcoming hurdles?and face them head-on.??

“How can someone in this role exceed expectations?”?

When you ask this question, the employer will know that you’re someone who cares about your impact. This allows you to be perceived as someone that’s willing to put in the work will do?what it takes to reach a?high standard.??

“What is it like to work here? What do you like about it the most and is there anything you’d change?”?

Asking this question can help you understand the overall work ethic of the company. In most cases, the employer will answer this question pretty honestly — and hence will connect with you on a more personal level.?

“I believe I’m a great fit for this role! But — could you tell me how did I do?”?

We understand this is a difficult question to ask. Feel free to change?the wording?depending on the mood of the room. But ultimately, the goal is to try and understand where the employer thinks you might be falling short, and then you have the ability to address that with them on the call.?

The Bottom Line?

More and more hiring managers are using the ‘Candidate questions’ to help determine if they want to move forward. The goal is to demonstrate that you are very interested in the company, the role and your success...because, of course YOU ARE!??
