What would you do, if money were no object?
This question, from Alan Watts, is a useful question to ask yourself if you are unsure about what you want to do with your life professionally.
I have very little to add to that.
Really though, ask yourself and get to the bottom of this question. And when you find that answer, sincerely, do that everyday. Do that in your spare time. And let it grow.
And let’s be honest: If you can’t get yourself to do it all the time, with no external motivation besides the act itself, then perhaps that’s not the right answer.
I asked myself this question a year ago, and found that I wanted to talk to people, and help them feel more powerful in their own lives. And to write. But I had no idea how to make something ‘marketable’ of this. And that is not a reality we can ignore. I started by having conversations with anyone who was willing to talk to me, helping friends and acquaintances in moments of career change, working every Friday night, Saturday, Sunday on this. Less than a year has passed. The work is not done, but I have built a door for opportunity to come knocking.
Take it from me: I’m not special, you can do this too. Just ask yourself, what would you do if money were no object?
