I am being questioned on the subjects I write about so I thought these old questions could be credit must be given to the many articles and people who have taught me over the years.

I have known Fred Marfleet since he set up the company in 1992 if I remember right, so during my years with various companies, I have saved them thousands.?So, whilst many of you understand the reason for sound cost efficiency there is an element that doesn’t even have a cost-saving strategy. So back in 2012, I posted 10 questions with a time guide for those who think they have it under control.

1.????? What are the five most expensive things within your profit and loss statements, apart from wages? ( 30 secs)

2.????? What do you consider to be the least and most expensive costs? (30 secs)

3.????? From the five items above what plans are in place to reduce those costs? (30 secs)

4.????? Write down the names of 5 suppliers and put the date of when you last negotiated prices with them or if there is another department with this role what is their bargaining position? (60 secs)

5.????? What costs have risen and what have come down in price last year and do you know why? (30 secs)

6.????? What are your plans for cost reduction over the next quarter? (20 secs)

7.????? What are your plans to reduce costs in your next budget? (20 secs)

8.????? How do you know you are paying the right price or matching others? (30 secs)

9.????? If you were to manage a saving of ￡10,000 what is it equivalent to in sales terms? (30 secs)

10.? Do you have a way of rewarding departments or executives who have achieved their cost savings? (20 secs)

To judge how well you have done you can rate yourself as follows:
