A post about what I don’t understand about the pandemic response

Is EU really late on the immunization campaign?

You’re late when you have previously fixed an appointment, but which one? Is it about our legitimate, but unrealistic expectation to come back to normalcy? Or is it about the promises by our politicians? Or even about the secret agreements that Ministries of Health entered into with pharmaceutical companies?

Why countries with a solid health system seem so disorganized in offering vaccination?

Shouldn’t a developed health system ensure coverage of areas or populations in need? If so, why EU countries deployed a wreak logistic? From the beginning of the pandemic to the date, have the EU’s governments strengthened the budget for the health workforce?

Does the public health system really deliver free services and vaccines? If not, why we don’t assume the real cost of the pandemic response? Don’t small gifts like tax reduction to reduce the pressure on livelihood today weaken the public health system tomorrow?

How Big Pharma influence public health governance?

If the lack of vaccines is the matter, why a country cannot reproduce the item on its own paying only the copyright? If the international law admits a waiver to the intellectual property rights for essential medicines, why governments don’t apply it? 

So what?

Why such questions are not addressed by health authorities and media? Am I developing a conspiracy theory? Or am I just tired of daily updates on epidemiological data? 

Am I going to be infected? Am I going to die? And, if so, what?
