A question to link achievements with your leadership essence

A question to link achievements with your leadership essence

Welcome to “Curly Question of the Week” and our quarterly series for leaders on the brink of their next big role. If this week’s question resonates, remember to share and subscribe.

We're taking it live! Over the last quarter of the year I'll be running a series of LinkedIn live sessions. The Mindshift series is designed for C-suite leaders looking to create space for strategic thinking in the midst of daily pressures. In this fast-paced world, many leaders find themselves stuck in reactive mode, making it difficult to think strategically when it’s most needed. Mindshift aims to change that in just 20-minutes. Join the next session here.

This week let’s explore how your current skills and experiences align with who you are and where you want your leadership to take you.

Take note, this week's question would you have do a bit of introspection and an honest feedback of your career (and the personal growth that came it) so far. It is best to carve out some quiet time to reflect on.

Understanding this alignment helps you articulate your full value to potential employers. It also highlights areas where you may need further development.

Key question to ask:

Practical tips:

  1. Conduct an achievements inventory: List your key biggest leadership achievements over the last 5-7 years.
  2. Identify themes: Looking across the achievements what consistent themes come through and what do they say about you?
  3. Create the full picture: Highlight your strengths and how they can contribute to potential roles. This is what makes you unique.

In our next edition, we’ll dive into pursuing your passions in leadership and how they can shape your next role.

Keep calm and curious,

Kate
