Question for the Hive: What are your ideas for promoting reading in the summer?

I am starting a blog post on this topic and would love to hear from the collective on this important issue.

During the school year we do what we can to keep kids' eyes glued to books: We dedicate time in classrooms, we have kids complete reading logs, we run contests, we dedicate bulletin board space to track completion rates, etc. But what about the summer? What are the best ways to promote reading during the 8-11 weeks most American kids have off between school years?
