A question to help assess before you stress

When something unexpected happens, it's natural to want to instinctively react and 'do something' about the situation. Random activity burns precious energy. It also puts our instinctive brain in the drivers seat and makes it harder for us to think and problem solve.

Asking this question in a team will turn an instinctive reaction into reflection. Use it to collectively focus attention and align perceptions of an event or situation. This helps to reduce the feeling that we need to press the panic button. It also means that whatever we do next has clearer context and is therefore more likely to lead to a positive outcome.
