The quest of Innovation

Innovation- What began as an innate human ability has now become an abused buzzword. Once innovation defined mankind and made humans what they are. And today, innovation is used so loosely that it has become almost meaningless.

However, among this clutter we still find examples that restore our belief in innovation. It gives hope that we will be able to find better solutions to our problems, open newer frontiers of knowledge and make this world a better place.

Innovation still fascinates many; individuals and organisations constantly find ways and means to innovate, the motivations and approaches vary but the pursuit of innovation is common across the board at all levels.

We now have a variety of theories, frameworks and models to explain innovation, but a common definition of innovation still remains elusive.

While it’s difficult to define innovation, we surely know that innovation starts as a cognitive phenomenon and when nurtured in the right ecosystem, manifests itself into myriad forms.

It all starts with an innovative mind and with the convergence of right conditions, the magic just happens. This sounds simple in retrospection, but the challenge still remains.

How does one develop the innovative mind and what are these right conditions that make innovation happen?

That’s the quest. Do we know how innovation works? Will we ever know?

As always, the journey will be more exciting than the destination.
