The Quest for Excellence...

Wouldn't normally take the time to write a form of words about a recent holiday, but on this occasion I simply feel compelled to do so as the holiday was not only outstanding, but resonated professionally with me.

Moofushi is an island on the western rim of Ari Atoll, Maldive Islands. Administratively it is part of Alifu Dhaalu Atoll division (the southern half of Ari Atoll) and the island is operated by Constance Hotels Experience as Constance Moofushi Resort (5 star - Click here). Sasha Tyas (General Manager) runs the island for Constance and what a fabulous job she does!

I constantly drone-on regarding core values - but for me at least, this island resort oozes them. It is professional beyond belief and the teamwork abounding across each department that run the island from catering to groundsman, from front of house to service is simply stunning. Nothing is too much trouble! Every single person you see (and I mean every single one) stops to greet you. They all attempt to remember names and faces. They all appear genuine and sincere and all take significant pride in what they do. It goes without saying that it is also obvious they everyone does work very hard. But the age old analogy of appearing to have the grace of a swan on top of the water, whilst the 'out-of-sight legs' of the swan are frantically kicking underneath the water, holds very true here.

For particular recognition in this note is Sasha, who highlights, sets and maintains the standards that 'Constance' demand but does so with a personal touch and the sort of strong, clear leadership that many should aspire too. The Executive Chef - Sven Hauke Schmidt is simply outstanding and his team are a direct reflection of him personally - thoughtful, talented and very proud of what they constantly achieve. Ruwan Madusanka who works to Sven, is one of two bakers who prepare all breads and as well the cakes for Totem bar - especially wonderful is the Bee Sting cake - Wow!!

The dive company on the island (Blue Tribe - Moofushi) is headed up by Enzo Spina. His team are equally helpful, professional, hugely attentive and the diving is simply outstanding. Athif Adam was my Dive Master and simply bought every single dive to life.

To sum up, this article is not about selling holidays to Moofushi for Constance, but about the importance of detail, how far a smile can take you, that when truly 'lived' - core values make the world of difference and that whilst Moofushi will of course never be 100% perfect, the team on the island are forever striving to achieve it - well done Moofushi and all who work their!!
