A quest for a brighter tomorrow

A quest for a brighter tomorrow

Looking for a new role may not have been your plan and could have come about by forces or decisions made by your company that were out of your control. Whether they were fair/unfair, expected or completely from left field; the event has happened and now it’s on you to change it.

Finding the right role starts with mindset. First and foremost, you have to believe you are going to find the ideal role. In the current market:

·??????? It’s going to be tough, but you will be tougher. You have gone through tougher times before and have got through them. In fact, those events have formed part of your character.

·??????? You are going to potentially get a lot of rejections, but have faith you have thick skin.

·??????? You will likely apply for roles and never hear back from them.

·??????? You will have interviews and wait for phone calls or feedback that will never come.

·??????? You will get ghosted by people that you thought were enthusiastic and seemed willing to help you on your quest.

You need to back yourself and trust in your amazing abilities that you will have success. You also have to be all in and 100% committed to do the work required to find that next gig.

A few ideas that could help:

·??????? Find some compassion and forgive them for anything that has happened.

The lesson here is letting go to clear obstacles; to make room for the good that awaits you.

·??????? Make a list of at least 40 companies you would be happy to work with. Immediately investigate if they are currently hiring (LinkedIn, Seek, Companies Careers page, Recruiters)

·??????? Reach out to your network and identify who has connections with people within those companies.

·??????? Make contact with your connection. Approach them with a ‘give before you get’ mindset.

·??????? Figure out ‘who’s who’ Find the hiring manager(s) and brainstorm the best way to make contact.

·??????? Block time in your calendar to execute on your plan.

Bonus tip: Read some biographies of people you respect or admire. There is a high probability that they also endured struggles through their lives.? You might be inspired by their stories!

This post is one of gratitude, excitement, belief and optimism for the future. Sundays for some time now have been somewhat dreaded knowing that the week ahead could likely just a replay of the week before, but not this week. This week is the start of a new chapter, a new company, a new role and a new adventure where everyone wants me to succeed.

I am so looking forward to working with this new team and bringing them the best version of myself. They have demonstrated faith in me by hiring me for this exciting new role. I am backing me and looking at the brilliantly coloured rainbow before me. I feel there is definitely a pot of gold on the other side.
