The Quarterback Leader: Is this you?

The Quarterback Leader: Is this you?

A skilled quarterback's success goes beyond throwing touchdowns; it lies in their ability to lead and optimize team performance.?

Exceptional leaders understand their team's strengths, weaknesses, and how to position each member for success. Whether in the realm of sports or business, effective leadership means ensuring your team is in the right roles, well-trained, and accountable for their performance.

So, let’s dive into those.

  1. Get people in the right seats. Mastering the strategy of placing people in the right positions is crucial, ensuring the team operates cohesively.
  2. Train people WELL. Just as a quarterback calls plays and directs their team, leaders must guide and develop their teams continually. Neglecting any team member's development can lead to vulnerabilities.?
  3. Hold the team accountable. Accountability is a tricky thing. The key is to remember that it is in everyone’s best interest—the company’s, the managers, and the employees. Accountability is the only thing separating the high performers from the pack. Acknowledge those who meet or exceed the standard. It will reinforce the winning culture.?

This is just a short snippet from a chapter in my latest book based on leadership. I go on to explain how to do each of these things exceptionally well. If you liked this small passage and are interested in building a winning team and company through improving leadership and development or becoming a better leader and want to be informed when the book will be released, click here.

As the sixth round, fourth string quarterback who broke through, yes. One supervisor years ago played into my leadership qualities. And I never stopped.

"You'll get comfortable with being uncomfortable." Like doing cardio in the rain at 0 dark thirty because you want the results more then the few extra minutes of warmth in your comfy blanket. And you want to feel keenly alive.
