Quarentine Lunch Break: My values

My colleague, James Baden at Paylocity posted his values reflection on LinkedIn this morning. While I avoid most "polls" on Facebook, this exercise appealed to me, so I borrowed the format.

At work my role is: Chief People Officer

My work impacts our clients by: Hiring and retaining the best warehouse associates to complete order fulfullment accurately and timely. Building a culture where our people are proud to work for ShipMonk and go the extra mile to collaborate and provide service to our customers. Our commitment to customers is: Stress Less, Grow More. Our people are vital to deliver on our promise.

What motivates me is: Solving problems. Early in my career, I learned to make a fishbone diagram and keep asking "Why?" until the root causes are revealed. Surface solutions are so easy, but ineffective. It takes patience and determination to keep asking questions until you really understand what went wrong -- solving that effectively can be a launchpad for growth.

If I had a superpower it would be: Seeing around corners. My StrengthsFinder has Strategy as my top strength and MBTI Intuition is 30/30. I often have a "gut feeling" about what is going to happen three steps ahead. Over time, I've learned to accumulate data and solicit other opinions to validate my thoughts.

My favorite ShipMonk Core Value is: That's easy -- We get SH*T done. I'm blessed to have worked for some awesome companies, none had this value painted on the wall. It really resonates with me. We know what we need to do and we work together to do it. For our employees, we create strong teams, a sense of accomplishment, and accountability. For our customers, we build trust and support their success.

My favorite ShipMonk product is: as a Learning Geek, I really enjoy the ShipMonk Blog for e-commerce SMB owners. Our sales team puts out great content to assist our customers (and prospective customers) in maximizing sales conversions, making warehouse and inventory decisions, and all the other elements of e-commerce business building. The first thing I'm looking forward to doing after the quarentine is: spending time with family and friends we've been unable to see during this time. And, talking my husband into a few trips to the beach.

At the top of my bucket list is: Riding my 1,000 Peleton ride LIVE in the NYC studio.

My spirit animal is: Skunk

A collegue who inspires me is: Jose Tomas, Principal, Managing Partner at BrandSparc https://www.dhirubhai.net/in/josephtomas/. Jose is one of those extraordinary leaders who will give his time generously to help others. I've reached out to him for personal advice, consulting services (outside his core focus area) and even, "can you help this friend of mine in her job search...?" He is always upbeat, supportive and motivating. I hope to impact others in the same way.
