Quarantines and lockdowns do NOT need to equal weight gain.
There have been a lot of memes, gifs and posts doing the rounds about gaining weight during the current quarantines and lockdowns, and how many of you might need to take your suits to be altered when this whole Covid-19 crisis finally ends!
Now I know a lot of these are meant to get a laugh, and some of them are quite funny.
But your suit trousers getting tight and shirt buttons barely closing should NOT be an inevitable outcome of this crisis.
If anything, NOW is the ideal time for you to PRIORITISE your health.
If you prioritise your health, you will improve your IMMUNE SYSTEM and this should be a goal for everyone in this current climate where a strong immune system is vitally important to staying healthy and alive.
But why is now an ideal time to prioritise your health?
You’ve got your kids running around the house needing to be kept from breaking everything in sight and/or needing to be home schooled. You likely have a tech issue to deal with and you’re trying to reassure staff and clients that everything will be ok. All of that is ON TOP of doing the work you normally do!
Because… all of the above will increase your stress levels and heightened stress levels often lead to comfort eating and drinking. The odd biscuit here, packet of crisps there, bottle of wine with dinner, half a tub of Ben & Jerry’s whilst you try to switch off with Netflix… rinse and repeat week after week and there you have it;
A weakened immune system, poor quality sleep, 20lbs overweight and an extra 4” around your waist.
All of that in a period where you need to be focused, full of energy and firing on all cylinders to get through this unprecedented time. Not feeling exhausted, sluggish and struggling to get through Monday!
Also, because many of us have MORE TIME.
Time saved from commuting to and from the office. Time saved traveling across the city for meetings and invariably getting stuck in traffic. For many, they’ve gained between 1-3 hours a day!
When I spoke to executives pre-Covid19 one of the most common reasons for their weight gain and poor health was a lack of time. That excuse, for many, has disappeared.
Now, you can control what you eat to a greater extent as you’re eating at home.
Now, you can use that “commute time” to fit in some exercise.
Now, you can carve out time in your new schedule to make your health a priority.
Now, you can get through this Covid-19 crisis healthy and with greater focus and energy!
You still might need to take your suits to be altered but this time to be taken IN, not let out. That will be the outcome for the clients on my Executive Evolution Framework.
When Covid-19 hit and people started to work from home, the executives I coach had to create new routines to manage their teams/businesses and meet their client’s needs all whilst working from home.
Their new routines STILL prioritise their health and as a result, four weeks into lockdown, they’ve continued to drop lbs and inches and have limitless energy to cope with the new stresses of the current crisis.

4 年One mention is to not get hysterical, this puts weight on, the chemicals from your hypothalamus indicating to your pituitary to release cortisol an anxiety chemical will transmit to the brain "You Need" and often people go for the junk! In Colorado, we work out, we walk, get out in the sunshine, eat healthy. We are known to be the Ahhheeemmm "The most beautiful and Skinniest People state". Think about what you are thinking and #Wiggle a bit of pounds off!
