Quarantine day 35
My quarantine began a few weeks earlier than most, due to a major surgery I had in February. I was hospitalized for 11 days and was thankfully released before the virus really went viral.
As we see our healthcare system severely stressed while they do their best to provide services in these trying times, I’m feeling very grateful and reflective about my whole experience. I appreciate the wonderful man in my life, Gordon Clark for getting me to the emergency room, the receptionist who fast-tracked my place in line and the ER staff who hold it together amidst the organized chaos. Thank you to Dr. Bob, the gentle giant of Desert Regional Medical Center, for referring me to my amazing surgeon, Dr. Amy Hakim, with whom I had complete trust in.
I send much love to the staff of the 2nd floor of the East Wing. After their 24/11 care and compassion, I have a whole new understanding and appreciation for nurses. They also became part of my social life while I was there and I even got a few restaurant recommendations. Special shout out to Oscar for being there for me during that 4am catheter crisis. Big ups to all of the support staff who make the whole hospital operate like the efficient organism it is.
Thank you to all of my friends who visited me in the flesh and the virtual world. And for friends I reached out to with Morphine Dilaudid, Norco and Percocet-induced messages of love. ?? Thank you for the good vibes, prayers, well wishes and gifts. Huge THANK YOU to Sandra Goodin for holding down the fort and caring for my kitties.
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. This is indeed a new chapter for me with much less pain, more pleasure and productivity. #medicareforall
