WHAT IS ENTANGLEMENT? ??

As a news junkie I wanted to periodically have a place to publish my take on a minimalist’s perspective on Quantum News. This is thus a new column in Quantum Foundry, at the?top of the home page . You can bookmark this page if it appeals to you.

?? Two Time Crystals Have Been Successfully Linked Together For The First Time

  • Physicists have just?taken an amazing step towards quantum devices that sound like something out of science fiction.

For the first time, isolated groups of particles behaving like bizarre states of matter known as time crystals have been linked into a single, evolving system that could be incredibly useful in quantum computing.

Time crystals , only officially discovered and confirmed a few years ago in 2016, were once thought to be physically impossible. Read?more

Xanadu’s Borealis Processor and Classiq’s Quantum Algorithm Design Platform Are Now Integrated with Amazon Braket

  • As it is a different type of quantum processor based upon Qumodes, it will need to be programmed by Xanadu’s own Strawberry Fields software. As mentioned in the previous article, this device has demonstrated quantum supremacy using a Gaussian Boson Sampling (GBS) demonstration and it does represent the first publicly available machine that has achieved this. AWS has published a blog that describes the machine with a nice summary of the GBS experiment along with a short tutorial on how to program it. You can find the blog posted on the AWS website?here .

Classiq has also announced that it has integrated support for AWS Braket in its Quantum Algorithm Design Platform. Braket is one of several backends that Classiq supports as shown in the diagram below.

The integration allows the Classiq platform to be used with any of the gate-based processors attached to Braket, except for the just released Xanadu Borealis processor. The Classiq platform allows users to program their algorithms at a functional level and then have the Classiq software develop an optimized program subject to hardware and other constraints. How will Europe and smaller countries keep up with China and the U.S. in Quantum computing? Outside of places like Canada, Israel and South Korea, I just don't see how they will do it.
