Quantity With a Dedication to Quality

Enchánte, y’all, the sign said as we rolled across the caliche parking lot. Thick cords of wine vines twisted around every corner, some old and uprooted (as much as 20 years) and some still securely buried deep in the ground, ripened red spheres dangling from its leaves, ready for harvest. The earth was pungent and the vines were green. Despite the hot summer, William Chris’s yield was good.

Your foundation is important. We had selected a barrel which William Chris Vineyards sourced from the Mesilla Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA)—the first AVA in Texas—located near El Paso that touts calcium-rich, high minerality, and sandy loam soil for their vines to grow in. Paired with the surrounding desert, it’s no wonder Chris Brundrett considers their one of kind wines “a living, breathing thing” with “the flavors of the earth.” It couldn’t be more true. Without the right foundation, your business will struggle to prosper.

Your culture is important. By this time next week, attendees of our event should be taking their first sips of a barrel select Cabernet Sauvignon (one of the only Cabernet vintages they produce!) and a world renowned Mourvèdre (for which William Chris are the largest producer in the country, even amongst the 4 main wine producing states: California, Oregon, Washington, and Texas respectively). From first taste you’ll understand the passion and top-tier quality that they’re known for. Without the right culture in place, business success creeps further and further away.

Quantity can only ever be achieved if there is a dedication to quality. So what’s next? For William Chris it’s continuing the best of brewed products that produce moments and memories for those gathered around their bottles. What’s more, they’re striving for top 50 this year in the World Best Vineyards for 2024. Co-founder Chris Burnett says it best: “we haven’t made our best bottle of wine yet.”
