Quantifying the Value of Internal Company Audits

I would like to take advantage of this network in asking for your help with the above. I am writing a "white paper" and would like to focus on the added-value of Internal Company audits. The paper will focus on Q, E.H.S., Energy, Anti-Corruption, and Ethics, including risk management and regulatory affairs. The internet has plenty of articles related to the benefits of financial auditing, and many generalized articles on the benefits of other types of auditing, however realistic data is more persuasive. If you work in an organization (no consultants please) and can provide quantitative examples to support this paper, I will greatly appreciate this. I realize confidentiality is always a concern, so while I would like to give credit to all sources, I have no issues with keeping information confidential; the data will do the talking.
