Price vs quality

Price doesn’t necessarily indicate quality. It’s not only about how long can you enjoy an item before it wears out. Quality in textiles and leather refers to the assurance of safety, durability and performance of products. But first, it should be about how it affects our health and the environment.

Quality at OEKO-TEX?

To us, quality means rigorous testing and standardised certification processes. Let’s take?a closer look at each area.

1. Laboratory testing

Our 17 international testing institutes assure quality through meticulous testing procedures. Advanced analytical techniques are employed to assess textiles and leather for harmful substances and colorfastness, among others. ?

2. Protecting people and planet

OEKO-TEX? certified items, including every thread, button and accessory, are tested against a list of over 1,000 substances that are harmful to our health and/or the environment. We review these requirements at least once a year.

3. Product controls after certification

To make sure that the samples tested during certification accurately, represent the final product and comply with applicable standards, we do control testing. About 25% of STANDARD 100, MADE IN GREEN and LEATHER STANDARD certificates are tested again - pulled from retail shelves, audits or downstream certifications.?
