Quality is not Overpriced compared to loss of Human Life
I just can not wrap my mind around the thought process of some of these companies that insist their procurement department makes final decision on purchase of Armored vehicles "procurement personnel have Zero experience in how any of the products they buy work NONE NATA".
Emails from these departments asking me for prices on replacement parts for armored vehicles but good parts and give discount. Here is how that conversation usually goes down:
I ask what are you using now? How often are you replacing it? what kind of quantity are we talking?
The reply "I will send you copy of our last purchase items" never fails the mistake in black and white OEM brakes on a BR7 level armored vehicle meant to protect you from this caliber of ammunition:
FB7/BR7-GOOD AGAINST/RIFLE-5.56X45MM NATO, FJ (FULL METAL JACKET) PB (POINTED BULLET) HC (HARD CORE; STEEL HARDNESS>63)
The 5.56x45mm bullet is no slouch it is a deadly ammunition round the materials used to counter this round are very thick and heavy especially in a Discreet armored vehicle the weights of these vehicles can be upwards of 5 US TONS/ 5000kg to think OEM brakes could safely stop this vehicle baffles my mind maybe I am bias since I build these vehicles.
Trying to get most procurement personnel to understand simple mechanical science is extremely difficult it always ends with "can you explain it to my GM or CEO" or "don't care just give me the best price for same parts.
In a nutshell utilizing OEM Parts {on armored vehicles above BR5 level armor} such as Brakes, rims, tires, sway bars, and bump stops will chew up all your maintenance budget in 9 to 10 months. No wonder your profits are lower! Buy cheap you get cheap and lose money!!!!
Pay attention to these items and buy the better product it will save you money and your life.
The items I mention here are for the most widely used Discrete armored vehicle the Toyota Land cruiser many of these brands are available for other models as well.
From most important to least.
1. Brakes replace your system with ALCON brakes specifically designed to stop armored vehicles. (your OEM brakes will let you down they are designed for non-armored low weight vehicles) Middle east supplier MSW "jonathan simmonds" [email protected]
2. Tires use the Maxis JRZ 12 ply kevlar lined tires specifically designed for armored vehicles, extremely quiet and handle any terrain you drive on. ( Those 6ply OEM tires will fail you and leave you stranded on the side of the road they are designed for low weight vehicles not armored vehicles.) Middle east supplier Rahdey Sharma [email protected]
3. Transparent armor ( ballistic glass) if your vehicle is over 2 year old it is time to replace that glass even if it looks clear heat, wind, sand, rain, snow, ice basically mother nature takes a toll on the glass do not wait until that small arms bullet penetrates glass that was meant to stop large caliber bullets.) Mid east distributor [email protected]
4. Suspension Armored vehicle weight is very rough on suspension and it is your suspension that helps you to control that vehicle at low and high speeds and it's the combination of suspension, tires, and anti-sway bars that keeps you from rolling that heavy vehicle over and either dying or become a target. My bet is when you bought that vehicle it had the cheapest suspension the manufacture could find to save himself money. In my opinion these are the best performing suspension available JRZ, Bilstein and Out Back Armor any other brand usually deteriorates after 1 year or 25,000KMs. mid east supplier Richard Catelan [email protected]
5.Rims I would venture to say 80% of all discrete armored vehicles out in the field being used have the OEM rim and what you need to know that rim was engineered for that vehicle at the weight it was originally built at from the auto manufacturer, it was not designed to take and extra 2000-3000 Kg of weight its failure is inevitable it's a matter of where are you going to be when they do fail? MSW "jonathan simmonds" [email protected]
All of these items I can supply or if you prefer i will do one better I will put you into contact with the manufactures/suppliers of these products.
(Oops already did look at the end of each product)
Why would i do that because saving a life and teaching customers the dirty little secrets done by armor manufactures is more important than a couple of dollars and I am willing to take the chance that providing life saving information will put me forefront of armor manufactures when you decide to purchase new Discrete armored vehicles.
