Ughh, Breaks my heart to leave this review

Because of one person who did care, she went out of her way to care.

Help good Hospitality staff during Covid19

I hadn't been there an hour yet before calling the online source I booked through to get out. The carpets were stained, there were seeds on the floor, mold in the bathroom, etc. My room was not to par with what I was told was a 3 star hotel. It was gross.

Anyway, the online source called the hotel and we all decided to try a different room (just across the hall, not an upgrade at all) so I gave it a try. This person whom I feel bad for showed up to my room with a cart to help me move across the hall (10 feet). It showed foresight, empathy and most of all compassion vs just being a jaded employee. She cares. We all want people like her in our organizations!

Unfortunately for her, the rest of the staff and the hotel itself do not share in the same passion for the guests.

Issues:

Customer Service

I called the lobby, from the new room, to ask for some more lighting (knowing of course the previous room across the hall would be unoccupied for the night after I was moved). The gentleman on the other end of the call at the front desk said there was nothing he could do, not possible to bring in more light or lamps because they were all not movable, tied down or part of the furniture.

I gave that theory a test as I still had the keys to the old room. The keys worked, the lamps were movable, they got moved AND within a total of minutes my issue was taken care of.

Think for a second of that small difference.

If he had just said yes sir, we'll see what we can do and then he or someone else on staff went up to that same room or in the hotel storage and produced the same outcome ... My opinion of the staff and the hotel would only improve vs get more negative. Remember up until this point I had a positive attitude about the front desk employees. Not anymore.

Dirty and very stained carpeting in the hallways (easy and cheap fix)

The Ice machine is disgusting and out in the open with plumbing issues as well as structural issues within the machine itself all visable to everyone. Plus the drain itself in the floor (visable) is backed up and leaking.

Anyway, long story short, everyone from management to the front desk and housekeeping has given up. They do not care. Obvious to me this is a top down issue from what I saw.

Bottom Line is the staff does not care and is unhelpful. The easy fixes such as stains and dirt are just getting worse vs getting eradicated. The ice machine & plumbing could easily be covered by a table and/or a sheet, maybe just a nice plant?

Nobody cares

Its not just the staff, even the online agents that booked the rooms don't care, so you should never stay at this hotel.

ADVICE:

Fire everyone except for one and start over.

Do not stay at this hotel until its improved. Listed at 3 of 5 stars and a 8 of 10 score by customers, much more is expected. Its only worth at most 2 of 5 stars and at most 4 of 10 by customers. Its been here awhile so I know it was most likely a 3 of 5 and a 9 of 10 and its dropping like crazy but it's just that the stars drop off slower because of oldschool rating systems that the FANCIE rating system has no time for.

At least until the person I mentioned earlier is promoted to management and given authority to make changes and to bring in others that care, this place is not fixable.

Or just start from scratch completely because there is no way to re-educate this team. Nobody can stay if the company is truly serious about restoring respect or at the very least cleanliness, if the person mentioned before moves on.
