Quality Education

Quality Education

As we are going through knowledge revolution, are there any benchmark for quality education and high performing school or it is just a misnomer? Majority of schools all around the globe have failed in preparing all the enrolled learners in gaining enrolment in their choice of institution of higher learning or gaining skills for their chosen 1st choice of career. Only a minority achieve enrolment in their chosen field and institution.

As defined by SDG, quality education is a fundamental human right. All type of children should be included in the education system irrespective of their financial or social status. In current structure, quality education is only a relative position in comparison to others based on the evaluation standards applied. To provide quality education, a high performing school must stand for itself ensuring no child is left behind or failed to be educated and all enrolled students progress and achieve the outcomes as per their capability.

With the increasing commercialisation of education system, even though school facilities are improving, quality of teaching and learning is improving but failed to maintain the principal of equality. it has also made education costlier and access to quality education is getting out of the reach for children belonging to families in lower middle class to low income group.

Becoming a school of high quality and performance takes years of hard work. There is no single solution or magic. Nowhere does the quality of a school system exceed the quality of its teachers. Top school systems select and educate their teaching staff carefully. To provide quality of education to all, schools also needs:

  • A clear and shared focus
  • High standards and expectations for all students - Believing that all students can learn and achieve at high levels
  • Effective school leadership who ensures policies and practices are applied across the entire system.?
  • Positive learning environment and high level of student engagement
  • High levels of collaboration among teachers
  • Curriculum, instruction, and assessments aligned with education standards of the country
  • Frequent monitoring of learning and teaching to ensure school is in continual state of improvement
  • High level of engagement with parents, stakeholders and community for overall development of all students
