Intro
The $750M+ “giant Esky” is the largest tourism attraction project in Australia right now (and the biggest ever in Western Sydney).
@Winter Sports World will transform the nation's tourism landscape with showstopping design and sheer scale.
Australia’s first indoor snow resort will deliver perfect snow, perfect conditions and perfect weather 365 days a year when it opens in 2028 – just 12km from Australia’s newest gateway to the world, Western Sydney International Airport.
It is located less than 60 minutes’ drive from Sydney CBD and near one of Sydney’s main arterial highways (the M4) and a rapidly growing Western Sydney community.
This combination of factors is almost impossible to replicate, meaning Winter Sports World enjoys first mover advantage.
This transformational economic engine for Western Sydney will inject more than $222 million a year into the local economy and $2.5 billion injected during the next decade.
It will attract 1.38 million visitors a year, almost doubling the current visitation to Penrith, making Winter Sports World one of Sydney’s top attractions, just behind Taronga Zoo.
And it will be the latest and greatest in social infrastructure, green technology and innovative design.
Those are all big claims.
So how do the numbers stack up?
?
Independent surveys
These figures haven’t been plucked from the air. There’s no estimates, guestimates or assumptions.
Independent specialist research firms were engaged to conduct primary market research – including qualitative and quantitative surveys, of sample areas of Sydney, regional NSW, Southeast Queensland and Victoria.
The research was conservatively based, only considering the permanent domestic population most likely to visit.
It did not factor “likely" visitors, the 4 million tourists a year who pass through the area to the world-famous Blue Mountains, international tourists, @Western Sydney International Airport opening in 2026 or professional athletes.
?
30-year cashflow forecasts
Similarly, Winter Sports World’s 30-year financial forecast is supported by thorough independent research on visitor numbers, pricing and other critical assumptions, with input and validation from industry experts.
Robust earnings and positive cash flows are anticipated when Winter Sports World opens from July 2028.
Ramp up periods Earnings Before Interest Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation: FY29 forecast $74 million, FY30F $162M, FY31F $177M.
?Visitation
Penrith is the "Adventure Capital of New South Wales", already home to 80 unique attractions – artificial and natural.
Penrth is part of Western Sydney, the 3rd largest – and fastest growing – economy in Australia.
Penrith Council has designated the Winter Sports World area as the “Riverlink Tourism Precinct” to encourage more tourism.
More than 5 million people live within 1 hour's drive of Winter Sports World, with Western Sydney alone forecasted to reach 3 million residents by 2036, accounting for two-thirds of Sydney’s population growth.
Penrith is at the foot of the World-Heritage listed Blue Mountains, which already attracts over 4 million visitors annually and is home to Scenic World – Australia's most visited privately owned attraction.
Western Sydney, with Penrith at its core, is gearing up for a spectacular global debut when Australia’s first greenfield international airport in 70 years touches down in 2026.
Winter Sports World will be the closest major attraction – just 12 kilometres away – from it and the initial 10 million passengers expected to flow into the country annually.
These travellers will come from high-volume markets like India, Singapore, Korea, and China, all eager for thrilling attractions and unforgettable experiences . . . and they already love snow.
So, who will be our visitors?
·???????? International overnight stay visitors staying at least one night in region
·???????? International daytrippers on organised tours
·???????? Interstate visitors
·???????? Domestic visitors from around Sydney & NSW
·???????? Schools, community groups, corporates and professional winter sports athletes training
·???????? Local residents
Winter Sports World will be the catalyst for tourism momentum for Penrith and Western Sydney, ensuring the region becomes a top global destination.
That’s millions of dollars that will stay in Western Sydney rather than simply passing through on their way to Sydney CBD, the Blue Mountains, Hunter region or Southern Highlands.

On track for 2028 opening
With State Significant Development Approval granted in January 2024, the project is on target to commence construction in 2025 subject to the initial capital raising.
The $750M+ build is expected to take three years, with the resort scheduled to open from July 1, 2028.
Experienced and internationally respected operators have been selected for the snow attractions, hotel conferencing and food & beverage.
An early contractor/builder procurement strategy, involving a four-gated process has been developed to mitigate delivery risk and ensure cost efficiency, buildability and program certainty. The process will be overseen by an international quantity surveyor.
An extensive Expression of Interest process is underway with various tier one social infrastructure contractors/builders with a selection of the preferred expected in early 2025.
