QR Code can use as a connecting tool for cybercrime

Last week I was on one online portal for shopping, and after selecting my product when I went for payment through the QR Code option than I realize something fishy instantly, I stopped my log out from that portal. 

To my surprise, when I checked with a banker, they informed me that it might be a cybercrime attempt. As a LIS professional, we use QR Code in our day to day practice, so this is my kind request to one and all LIS professionals in terms of QR Code usage; they may be very alert.
