Qlik positions to increase Certainty with Data and deliver Intelligent Automation

Qlik Is Back In Town

#QlikWorld 2023

For many years, software vendor Qlik has hosted an annual global conference for its community. Never the biggest and certainly not the smallest, but always the friendliest and most engaging, as well as being fun.

2023 was no different, except it was, very much so, as for every person present at the event (3,000+) there were ten times as many watching keynotes remotely. Thus avoiding unnecessary travel and easing the burden on the plant. #Sustainability played a big part at the event and we are advised that the event was carbon neutral, which is great to hear and a credit to Julie Kae and team.

Mike Capone delivered a balanced keynote that gave a great introduction to Qlik's new messaging, pre and post the intended acquisition of Talend . Normally, I do not make notes at events, however I did this time. What I wrote was three words: Certainty, & Intelligent Automation. Qlik is looking to help us all reduce #risk by increasing certainty with data to deliver intelligence automagically (as we say at Differentia Consulting ). Even smarter #SmarterBI if you like, but it is more than BI-much more.

As a strategist, if there was one take away for me, it is that we had the wrong people in the room, not a criticism at all, more of an opportunity. Qlik's go-to-market is now so deep into data that it is time more CDOs joined their CIOs at the Qlik Party, because boy, does Qlik have some disruptive solutions, and competitive pricing models that will instantly make a difference. Qlik announced, probably, the boldest move in its history by offering pricing based on capacity. Available now for Data Integration customers. Very exciting and a major shift for us all. We enter a new dawn.

The event was a sell out, the speakers brilliant. Huge UK influence/presence observed. Global awards announced to the usual suspects - great news, as Qlik needs the global SI's to transform its major clients. The little guys too were given a big hug by Mike Capone in his speech and it was most welcomed as they have grafted over the last couple of years to keep clients on board for this journey of change.

On a personal basis I joined and enjoyed combined #qlikluminary and #qlikpartnerambassador events, including celebrating with Mike Capone as he cut the Qlik 30th Anniversary cake, and we acknowledged his five years at Qlik.

Congratulations to Qlik and to Mike, and especially to everyone that made the effort to make #QlikWord 2023 very special. So glad to be engaging again.

Great to see #QlikWorld back as an in person event and adapting to that changing marketplace out there... Data is the heart of every organisation, but enabling operational systems to transform operations is the challenge we need to address to help #smarterOrgs thrive.
