Qgroup Star Spotlight: Q&A with Linda Schoszarzek

??#QgroupStarSpotlight: Meet Linda Schoszarzek , Front-End Developer and Team Leader at Qlue AB in Malm?, Sweden ????.

Linda joined Qlue AB in November 2019 and is currently working as a front-end developer for a large furniture manufacturer.

When asked what inspired her to enter her field, she says "It started as a hobby, back in the beginning of the 2000 era, designing and coding my own web pages after school. After a couple of years of that and, later on, a couple of years of studying, I realized that this is my thing and that I'm good at it."

When Linda is not working, you can find her spending time with her family, working out, doing all kinds of sports, playing computer games, drawing portraits, and other fun activities. She is always open to trying new things!

Learn more about Linda Schoszarzek with the Q&A below!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Qlue?

  • I'm both a consultant and a Team Leader for around 10 consultants at Qlue. Since I'm a developer, I currently write code at a large furniture manufacturer, working with their planning tools. As a Team Leader, I make sure the team gets what they need to succeed on their assignments and manage some administrative tasks each month.

How have mentors or colleagues influenced your growth in this field?

  • The best mentors are colleagues who are more experienced than you! You always learn so much from them, and I'm also lucky such a thing as code review exists since it really makes you improve your own code! It's honestly really inspiring, needing to check out your ego like that every day!

Are there any specific courses, workshops, or experiences that profoundly impacted your journey?

  • All the things I've studied (3 years at university and 2 years of a more practical education) each brought some great pieces of a puzzle to get to where I am right now. In all honesty, it's not easy keeping up with all the new things in this field; it constantly evolves, and if you stop for a minute, you get behind! I even studied some extra courses when I was home with my daughter on maternity leave, so yes, everything adds up! Even those first years when I just read stuff online and did it as a hobby.

How have you built your personal brand within your profession?

  • I mostly just try to have fun with the people I meet and work with on my assignments. If we laugh together, it's easier to ask each other for help if needed! So yeah, I'm just trying to be a decent person that others want to be around.

Is there a specific approach or philosophy you bring to your work?

  • I always say that as long as I continue to learn new things, I can be happy anywhere, no matter the type of work. This is something I also think about with my hobbies. For a year now, I've been doing real gymnastics, learning vaults, walking on my hands, etc., which is extremely fun and challenging, especially if you are like me and have never done it before!?

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in your field?

  • It can be very tricky since we only have so much time to spend, but just trying to read newsletters from great people in the field or discussing things with your colleagues are a few relatively easy ways to keep up.

If you could collaborate with any historical figure or fictional character, who would it be and why?

  • Hmm, it's very hard to pick, but let's go with Ada Lovelace, considered to be the first computer programmer in the world back in the 1800s. I'm pretty sure she could teach me a thing or two thousand about programming and share some insights into how it was to be a woman in the field so long ago.

Could you share a fun or surprising fact about yourself that others might not know?

  • I'm very good at strategy board games. Much to my husband's annoyance, I usually win them, which makes it extra fun!

How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance while excelling in your role?

  • I'm very strict at maintaining my work hours. I only work overtime if it's really needed. In the last few years, I've also only worked 90% of my time, having every other Friday free. I love my job, but this gives me extra time to spend with my kids and more time for my hobbies. Time is really the most important currency we have in life, not money.

If your life were turned into a movie, what would it be called, and who would play you?

  • "Who can say no to that?" starring Jennifer Lawrence!
