QFVG Can't Live Without…

Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers, as part of the Queensland Farmers' Federation ‘Queenslanders Can’t Live Without’ campaign, is rallying behind our #growers in the lead up to #NationalAgDay on Friday 15 November.

Every day, Australians enjoy countless essentials brought to life by agriculture, but brought to the table as food and fibre. QFF’s campaign draws attention to this critical link between what consumers do every day and the role our farmers play in those activities.

The importance of this campaign goes beyond highlighting the products we cherish. It underscores the resilience, innovation, and dedication embedded within Queensland’s agriculture industry.

In Australia it’s easy to take for granted the year-round availability of fresh, high-quality produce, but behind every single piece of fruit, vegetable, or nut there is a grower who has faced unpredictable weather, increasing costs, and market fluctuations. Yet they persevere because they understand just how much food means to all of us.

A quick survey of QFVG staff yielded a variety of responses.

QFVG staff can’t live without:

• Eating the whole punnet of raspberries or blueberries on my way home from grocery shopping
• A good steak, a juicy mango, fresh stone fruit, a tender lamb chop
• My berries and yoghurt every morning
• Mushrooms on toast is an essential start to Sunday mornings
• Cold watermelon on a hot summer’s day especially watching the cricket
• Hot chips
• Passionfruit on the Christmas pavlova
• Cheeeesseee all the way!
• Coffee. Need I say more?
• Bacon and eggs to kickstart the weekend
• Smoothies
• Bananas! Where would we be without bananas?
• Our growers and their support.

It’s a fun, get to know your staff activity. We would encourage other businesses to do something as simple as asking the question of their staff this National Ag Day – just as a simple reminder to us?all how valuable our farmers truly are.

QFVG staff, although focused on our horticultural growers, also appreciate each and every meat and fibre farmer! We love our other ‘half of the plate’ farmers and we do love to be clothed! We can’t live without you all. Thank you from all of us!
