Qatar Airways VS Airbus

Another series of battles between two giants: Airbus and Qatar's national carrier Qatar Airways took place today in court in London.

The court granted the motions of both parties. Qatar Airways has asked the court to speed up the process of considering the airline's main lawsuit against Airbus, which concerns problems with the paintwork of Airbus A350 aircraft. At the same time, a British court allowed Airbus to continue delivering A350s ordered by Qataris. This will allow Airbus to continue to supply aircraft and demand payment from Qatar Airways, apply the provisions of penalty and penalty agreements, and try to sell the built aircraft to third parties if the airline refuses.

The parties have been embroiled in a huge dispute over the safety and airworthiness of the latest Airbus A350 long-haul aircraft for several months, after which Qatar Airways and the Qatari regulator said problems with the A350's paintwork could ignite fuel tanks.

The judge rejected both motions, asking the airline to split the lawsuit and order Airbus to conduct a more in-depth analysis of the A350's lightning protection system and ban Airbus from selling undelivered aircraft, but agreed to a request for a speedy lawsuit between Airbus and the security and contract. Qatar Airways.

"I have no doubt that this case should be considered as soon as possible," Judge David Waxman said, adding that it was in the public interest. "In my opinion, the costs are too high for both sides. Too much time is spent here, "the judge added.

Recall, in short, that Qatar Airways landed more than 20 Airbus A350 aircraft due to problems with the paintwork, which in the opinion of the airline affects the safety of the aircraft. However, the airline refuses to accept deliveries of new aircraft until further analysis and demands from Airbus compensation in the amount of $ 1 billion. Airbus, in turn, acknowledges the quality of the A350's paintwork, but insists the planes are safe and continues to try to get the airline to accept new planes as they build.

A preliminary hearing on the main dispute will be scheduled for June next year. The claims of the parties will have to be considered in the three-month window declared by the judge.

Both sides have already stated their satisfaction with today's decision of the High Court of London and their partial victories.
