Qatar Airways Getting Closer To Equity Investment In Undisclosed Southern African Carrier, Expanding Their Presence In The African Aviation Market.

Qatar Airways is nearing the completion of an equity investment in a southern African carrier, aiming to expand its network across Africa. CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer revealed during the Qatar Economic Forum that the deal could be finalized within two to three weeks. The airline, a member of the Oneworld alliance, has been focusing on growth in central and southern Africa. Currently, it has codeshare partnerships with Air Botswana and South African carrier Airlink \, with plans to deepen its presence in the region. Qatar Airways has already made strategic investments in RwandAir Ltd and Bugesera International Airport in Rwanda. This potential investment in the unnamed southern African airline is seen as a final step to complement its operations in the region. Qatar Airways serves 28 destinations across Africa and aims to strengthen its presence through partnerships and investments, recognizing the continent's vast potential for air travel growth.
