Qatar Airways Buys Into IPL Hype

Qatar Airways has secured a three-year main sponsorship deal with IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore.??

The airline has taken up the prominent primary front-of-shirt sponsorship with the Virat Kohli led franchise in a deal reportedly worth over US$9.15m over three years.

As part of the deal, Qatar Airways has also launched RCB fan engagement campaigns, including prize giveaways. The leisure division of the airline has also unveiled exclusive all-inclusive travel packages for RCB games that include hospitality experiences at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The new season has broken records in terms of sponsorship revenue, with the?Economic Times of India?reporting that franchises could each pocket between US$12.2 million and US$14.6 million.?According to ASN data, Qatar Airways (15.8%, ~US$54m) is the 3rd?largest sponsor for the airline category across the Asian sponsorship market, the carrier’s other blockbuster deals include French football giant PSG, Formula 1, the Philippines Football League, Ironman 70.3.
